THE VENT | Sunday 10/18 Overreactions
Valdosta’s win and we will just ignore what the math says. Brooks County runs on fried chicken, and Hebron Christian wants its cake and to eat it too. This week’s Sunday Edition delivers the takes, receipts, and region-title stakes from around Georgia high school football.

Morning After: Overreactions — Week 8 (Sunday Edition) Presented by our friends at Coachingshare.com. It is almost playoff time so make sure you have every resource you need to maximize the time you have with your team. Made by coaches, and for coaches.
The Overreaction, Sunday Edition this week. Let's get into it.
Valdosta: ignore the math..
Beat Colquitt County 52-44 to stay undefeated. That +8 margin is only 28 points off what Thomas County Central beat Colquitt by. Guess we can chalk that up to you having to go to Colquitt while TCC got to host as difference in the margin of victory.
Glynn Academy: The Scoreboard Show Effect
Wins the City Championship over Brunswick, and it's further proof that coming on the Scoreboard Show directly correlates to a win.
Brooks County: It's the Fried Chicken
Massive win over Berrien, the most improved team of the last two seasons. According to Coach Josh McFather, it's the fried chicken pregame meal that's proved to be the difference.
Grayson: Round 1 on the Road
For three quarters, I felt like you were in control of that football game. Newton found a way to flip the script, and now some poor team is going to have to host Grayson in Round 1 thanks to the PSR.
White County: Pay the Man, Part seven
Chad Bennett is 7-1. That sets up a region title game against North Hall in two weeks.
North Cobb: Fuel for the Tank
Big win over Walton, sitting at 5-2 overall with one loss on a two-point conversion and another in overtime. Could those losses end up being the fuel that finally gets the Warriors out of the second round for the first time in 10 years?
Blessed Trinity: the pope is watching.
Catholic on Catholic crime. Sad!
Hebron Christian: Cake and Eat It Too
From the Baptists' side of things, a massive win after parting ways with their first-year head coach Thursday afternoon. All the credit in the world to interim head coach Danny Mejia, the staff, and of course the players.
With that said, the donors who pushed this want their cake and to eat it too. You see what it takes to be competitive and win championships, you indicated you no longer wanted to do it that way, and when the wins didn't continue you parted ways and launched a "national search." Translation: picking up the phone and calling Greg Vandagriff to see if he wants to move back to northeast Georgia.
Seckinger: Genetics Matter
Congratulations to Coach Tony Lotti and his staff on their first win of the season, over Discovery. I know there are a lot of Facebook coaches out there who think Seckinger should be competing with Buford. They forget the part where most of them decided to procreate with the least athletic DNA pairing possible, which makes competing with teams like that incredibly difficult.
Franklin County: Back in the Column
Back in the win column after a huge road win over Morgan County. Bye week next, then a massive challenge against Hart County.
Commerce: Region Championship Set
Beat Rabun County 28-7, setting up the region championship against Prince Avenue next week. Rumor has it Gunner Stockton was so upset about the result that it showed up in his play Saturday against Auburn. Sad!
Jefferson: Fifth Straight Shutout
Fifth straight shutout for the Dragons. Winder is up next, then the region championship against North Oconee, where they'll have the quarterback advantage for the first time in several matchups against the boys from Bogart.
Gainesville / Milton: The House That Josh Niblett Built
Both handled their business, and now the de facto region title is set for next week in the house Josh Niblett built. We'll obviously have more on this game in the coming days, but a Fired Coaches road show broadcast is in the works to be in attendance.
Rome: is burning.
But on a simmer due to being on a bye week.
Mount Vernon: First Ever
Coach Terrence Edwards is on the cusp of winning the school's first ever region title. Sitting at 6-2, they're staring a top-four seed in the face come playoff time. Can't say enough about the job Coach and his staff have done the last few seasons.
Douglas County: Receipts and Timelines
You learn just how vindictive certain people are when a kid leaves their school and finds success elsewhere, and how they choose to respond to it. Good news is, receipts and timelines matter. Rumors and insinuation get exposed every time.

The Scoreboard Show
Once again, we found ourselves beating Dave Campbell's Texas High School Football head-to-head. They've got a massive production. We've got two guys with laptops. We're looking forward to this week as we move into crunch time and region championships. (The numbers below were the live listeners at 11:30 EST)

We've got to give a shoutout to our show sponsors, because none of this is possible without them: QwikCut, Built To Work USA, and SkyCoach. Each one is an exclusive partner for a reason, and I wouldn't put them in front of you if I didn't feel it was worth your time to have a conversation with them. Don't settle for "it's okay" when alternatives exist that are better, more responsive, and more accountable.
That's all I got. /
